50 years of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori

This term we have been learning about weather words in Te Reo Māori. This week we celebrated  50 years of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori. We finshed our weather learning by learning to talk about the weather using three phrases.

Kei te whiti te rā. The sun’s shining.

Kei te heke te ua. The rain’s falling.

Kei te pupuhi te hau. The wind’s blowing.

Some students made a Seesaw video and some students made a book of kupu Huarere (weather words).

I’m sure the students would love to keep practising these phrases at home over the holidays.

Week 6 – Mars

Did you know that there are robots on Mars? Today we learnt about the Mars Rover robot and then we learnt how to use our Beebot robot. It was heaps of fun.

Science in Term 3 learning about planets – Venus – Earth’s opposite twin!

This week the junior syndicate in English medium have been learning about Earth’s opposite twin Venus. Did you know that Venus is about the same size as Earth but unlike Earth it isn’t a great planet to live on. Venus is the hottest planet with nasty rains and a nasty cloudy atmosphere. Venus is also covered in active volcanos. Rūma Pīwakawaka made their own volcano and made predictions about what was going to happen, what it would look like and what the volcano would sound like. It was lots of fun!
